The fault lies on the coach. In New Jersey if you have longer hair it must be covered and the covering must attach to the headgear which is also not optional in New Jersey. The coach should have known this thus the entire situation would have never happened. Once the match starts if the wrestler does not have the correct equipment the injury clock starts and the wrestler has 2 minutes to get the correct equipment,do whatever necessary so the equipment is not needed, or forfeit the match. just as if there is an equipment issue such as shoes become untied or mouthpiece becomes dislodged and not put back in with a wrestler with braces it is a 1 point deduction during the bout.
